The Russell Inn, was built as a Hotel in 1926. It is on the list of Historical Places in SC and is the only hotel within a mile of the Universities and Colleges. Its use changed in 2007 because of the growth in the demand for student housing and was leased individually to students attending: South Carolina State University, Claflin University and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. From 2009 - 2019, The center was leased exclusively by Claflin University, which is within walking distance from the campus. In 6/2019, Claflin students vacated the building but in 2 months, and rooms again were leased to individual students from the 2 Universities and 1 College , so we are proud to say we already have 37.5% of the beds leased. Orangeburg Library & Conference Center will be done Spring of 2021, Only 2 blocks from The Russell Inn. There will also be an amphi theatre for Music Concerts. The Russell Inn may also have short term rentals!
